Wolverine and Man, I’m Out of It, Friday, Jan. 23

Here I am, up late and trying to keep my eyelids open.  Got a Disney event all day – the new DVD release of Pinocchio.  So this is going to be short.

Nickelodeon is premiering a new evening animated series Wolverine and the X-Men tonight at 8 p.m.  I have two issues with it.  One is the violence, excuse me, action.  It’s relatively bloodless, but there are lots of thing going boom, lots of folks getting their lights punched out and no bodies, but a few characters are definitely dead, including a few nameless bad guys who are in a helicopter when it explodes.

The other is the feeling that I had started reading the novel in the middle.  I have a friend, Fabio, who’s a long-time X-Men fan (and please note not all X-Men are men, several are female), and he said he saw the cartoon at Comic-Con last summer.  Comic-Con being the big convention for all things animated and comic books – which are rarely that comic.  Fabio really liked it, but agreed that knowing the mythology of the X-Men world definitely helps with the new show.

So there you have it.  Check back again on Saturday for some more Sunday offerings.
