Not that I’m a big High School Musical fan, but I thought it’s worth noting that Disney Channel will be re-running HSM 1 and 2 on Saturday. The reason I’m doing it today is that the channel is running it as a Sing-Along/Dance-Along, and just posted lyrics and choreography instructions on its site. You can click here or go to DisneyChannel.com, wait for it to load (and wait, and wait – there’s so much video and other stuff going on that even with a Flash blocker, it takes forever), and then scroll down to the lower left hand corner and click the link there.
Like I said, I’m not that big on HSM – the first wasn’t bad, the second bored me to tears. But I love that Disney is encouraging participation. Anything that gets kids off their backsides while watching TV has got to be a plus.
So go ahead and sing along, even if you’ve got a horrible voice. It’s the joy of singing that counts. Nor does it matter if you can’t get the steps straight. Dance is about movement and fun. And it doesn’t hurt to let your kids see you struggle. They need to know that it’s okay not to get it right and that it’s okay to have to work at something. But most of all, it’s important to have fun.
