Regardless of your feelings about his politics, Senator Edward Kennedy was, without question, one of our great elder statesmen. His passing is worth noting because his tenure has covered so much of our recent history as a country.
Of course, the tribute shows are going. CNN has “In His Own Words,” at 7 p.m. tonight and most PBS stations should be running the PBS doc The Kennedys at 8 p.m. It being PBS, you should probably check your local listings. Not all stations run network programming at the same time. It’s also on the video portal link at pbs.org, click on the video link.
ABC News is airing a special at 10 p.m. Fox, CBS and NBC have yet to weigh in as of this writing. Figures, all the action happens on a day I’m on the road (I’m posting from a computer at my local library – a truly Good Thing).
Some of the shows may be on a little late for your youngest children, but they should be a good way to help your kids understand who Ted Kennedy was and why he’s important.
