It’s not the Super Bowl, it’s on after the Super Bowl.
Undercover Boss
Safety Rating: Mostly safe, but not perfect
Friendly Rating: Middle grades and older.
Quality Rating: Good, but with room for skepticism.
On CBS, right after the Super Bowl, starting Sunday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m.
This latest entry into the reality genre places CEOs of major companies secretly among the rank and file of their employees to find out what’s really going on. The episode I saw featured Waste Management and COO Larry O’Donnell, III.
The show was interesting. O’Donnell believed his employees were pretty happy, and he did find that most of them were. At least, no one was cursing him out behind his back. He also swore that he put into place several changes that affected the rank and file. Hey, I don’t work there – I wouldn’t know.
But the concept was interesting. I mean, how many of us would like to let the boss know just what we think of our jobs? I would, but since I am my own boss, I already know.
Oh, and if you’ve been under a rock somewhere, yes, Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday. Some may take issue with the violence of football, and I respect that. But I can’t get as worried about men slamming into each other as I do about scenes of people blithely blowing each other away with guns. Football also involves a certain level of strategy and sports, in general, are a great way to bond as a family.
