Another Light Night, But… Wednesday, June 30

Carl Reiner and Betty White, courtesy TVLand

I have to admit Hot in Cleveland is one of those rare shows that can be funny about sex without being raunchy or boring.  The series airs on TVLand at 10 p.m. on Wednesdays.  You may want to approach with caution if you have younger viewers in the house.  On the other hand, older teens might figure out that there’s more to life than meaningless hook ups and badly written one-liners.

I am bringing it up because tonight’s episode has Carl Reiner as a guest star and romantic interest for Betty White.  Reiner, who is a show-biz legend in his own time (and possibly mind), is an amazing performer and comedian, so this should be a treat.

And as an additional note, PBS is starting its reprise showing of the Ken Burns series (it’s not a film – it’s way too long) Baseball, tonight, but check your local listings for the times and when exactly your local station is going to air it.  If they are.

I can’t say Burns didn’t revolutionize the historical documentary.  He most certainly did.  But, alas, he hasn’t learned to edit himself in the process.  Ah, well.  It’s still an interesting doc and there are many Burns fans on the planet, and even a few baseball freaks who should appreciate it.  This is also one of his earlier efforts – between The Civil War and Jazz, and it may be easier to watch in small doses.
