PYROS

Friendly Rating: Elementary age and older

Safety Rating: Bleeped language

Quality Rating: Fun to see at least once

New series premieres tonight on The Weather Channel at 9 p.m.

In yet another attempt to get people to tune in to The Weather Channel when there isn’t a major weather event going on, we have Pyros, about a company in Montreal, Canada, that builds and puts on fireworks displays in all kinds of weather.

I happen to have worked one day for a pyro-technician and it was scary, but a lot of fun. Which is why I gave this one a look.

If you’ve never seen how a major fireworks show goes together, then it’s kind of fun. Once.

Safety-wise, there’s a fair amount of bleeped language and lots of things going boom, but in the nice way. If your kids like playing with gunpowder and electronics, you may want to caution them not to attempt anything they see on TV.
