OPENING CEREMONIES OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES OPENING CEREMONIES
Where is my head? Or perhaps this is an object lesson in the effects of overkill. Tonight at 7:30 p.m. NBC will air the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and I totally spaced. Or maybe I tuned out after endless promotion of the event.
This will be tape delayed because the actual ceremonies are happening (let’s see, 8 hours…) ACK! NOW! But they should be reasonably cool since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will do the official opening.
This is one of those rare opportunities for family viewing, not to mention the potential for a little dream-launching. Plus we all need to encourage our kids to get involved in some kind of physical activity.
I think it’s important to note that just because you’re not going to break any world records that it can’t be fun to swim, run, jump, toss big heavy balls around. It might be fun to look at some of the less popular sports, like archery, and see if that’s something that might become a new family passion.
Anyway, have fun.
