ABC started its Press Tour presentation yesterday with presentations on their news programming, then the new Katie Couric talk show, followed by a General Hospital panel.
I’m not a big fan of daytime TV – perhaps because the only time I ever got to watch it was when I was home sick from school. Also, it’s not a great option for family viewing, unless you’ve got toddlers at home and you’re watching Sesame Street with them.
But the highlight of the day was the visit to the Revenge set – or more specifically, the Grayson Manor set. I’ve been watching this guilty pleasure (which can be a little on the borderline side for families thanks to sex and violence issues) all season and lusting after Victoria’s chair. Victoria is the evil queen bee played by Madeleine Stowe, who was conspicuously absent from the set. Not surprising – if you don’t watch the show, there was a cliffhanger in which a plane that Victoria boarded blew up, so we don’t know if Victoria survived. Okay, we know she does somehow.
I love set visits – there’s just something magical about being where it all happens, and oddly enough, no matter how jaded I get about other things in the TV world, that hasn’t seemed to fade. I even enjoy visiting sets of shows I don’t even watch.
So getting to see Victoria’s Chair was even more cool than usual. I’m not sure why the upholstery on this thing has entranced me, but it has. So there you have it. The Chair. Wow.
