Hi! I’m Anne Louise Bannon. If you’d like to know a little bit more about me, then click here.
The goal of YourFamilyViewer.com is to help you make media work for you and for your family, however you define family – whether it’s the traditional husband, wife and kid(s), you and the dog, same gender parents, single parents, a couple alone, grandparents raising kids, kids raising kids.
Everyone’s needs and beliefs about what’s on the boob tube or coming across the wires on the Internet are different and I respect that. That being said, there are some common things that most folks are concerned about when it comes to what their kids are seeing: unnecessary or overly-explicit violence and sexuality, foul language, commercialism, and social roles. The catch is, many of us have differing views as to what’s overly-explicit, what words constitute foul language and so forth and so on. My job is not to tell you how to define those things. My job is to tell you what’s there so that you can make up your own mind.
Right now, I’m focusing on television shows that might be of interest to you, as well as interesting things happening in the world of media, and ways that you, if you’re a parent, can use media to relax with your kids, to help reinforce your family’s unique values and generally make it work, rather than let it work you. And, okay, maybe the occasional rant when something really annoys me.
In the future, I hope to expand into Internet programming, DVDs, film and whatever else comes down the pike. Hopefully, there will be a backlog of reviews, to make it easy to check on something you’ve heard about. And you can always e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This site is for you. Enjoy.
