About me

I know, a bio is necessary so you know I’ve got some cred. The thing is, like you and everyone else I know, I hate writing bios. I don’t want to sound like I’m puffing myself up and always end up minimizing myself. The below are the facts as I know them.

I’ve been writing about parenting and media for nigh on 10 years now.  Currently, I’m a reviewer with CommonSenseMedia.org.  I started out with L.A. Parent and the Torrance (CA) Daily Breeze, writing general parenting articles, then moved on to regular columns on parenting and media in Catholic Parent and OnDirectTV. I also did a weekly column on television for families for several years for the Portland (ME) Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.   Click on the picture below to read some of my past reviews and columns.

Her Ladyship doing what she loves the mostI also have practical experience in the parenting field, although I’m semi-retired. Her Ladyship has graduated from college, has her own place and a job with benefits. She also calls me regularly and is, all in all, a really cool person. Which leads me to believe I did something right.

I’m married and live in Southern California with my husband, two dogs and two cats. I love to read, watch TV, knit, sew, cook and make soap and wine.
